What is Hypnosis?

"A state of consciousness involving focused attention and reduced peripheral awareness characterized by an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion" - American Psychological Association, 2014

This means that every time you are focused on something that you lose your awareness on the things around you, you are more likely in hypnosis. When you are watching TV, listening to music, in a date with your loved one, in a political rally, reading a book, and daydreaming you are actually in trance or hypnosis.

That goes to show that Hypnosis is a natural occurring state and in hypnotherapy, we aim to put you in the hypnagogic or hypnopompic state which is the state just before you fall asleep or immediately after waking up so you'll have a more enhance capacity for response to positive suggestions. Your regular negative self-talk like "I can't do it" is reduced in this state.

What is hypnosis used for?

Hypnosis is used to help stop smoking, drinking and other bad habits like unhealthy diet, nail biting. Hypnosis can help deal with stress, anxiety and depression, helps overcome phobias, fears and limiting beliefs, and helps deal with grief, loss and heartaches.

Can everyone be hypnotized?

Almost everyone can be hypnotized to a certain degree (with the exception of mentally challenged, those who are under the influence of drugs etc). Hypnosis is a natural occurring state in everyday life. When you are about to fall asleep or immediately after waking up, you are already in a trance-like state. Daydreaming, being absorbed watching a movie, reading a book or listening to music can be categorized as trance or self-hypnosis.

Is it safe to hypnotize yourself?

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and it is safe to hypnotize yourself. Hypnosis does not require you to take medication or any external things for you to be hypnotized. The best way to do self-hypnosis is to have the help of a hypnotherapist that will install a suggestion that will make you go into deep hypnosis and terminate it at will by saying a certain phrase that you want. While you are in the state of self hypnosis, you can give yourself whatever beneficial suggestions that are appropriate to you.

Could I be influenced to do anything against my will or nature?

No. Hypnosis is not mind control, if it were I should be the president of the world. In fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state immediately any such action was suggested to you.

Will I be aware of what is happening during hypnosis?

Generally you will be aware throughout the hypnotic session. The hypnotized person is fully aware of everything happening and is able to leave the hypnotic state at any time should he so wish. Unless asked by the client, all online hypnotherapy in Hypnosis Philippines will be recorded and will be stored for 30 days in case you wish to review the hypnotherapy session.

Will I be asleep during hypnosis?

No, you are simply extremely relaxed.

How many visits will I need?

Simple problems like dealing with stress at work may require as little as 3 sessions but more complex problems like depression, anxiety and other issues may last up to 8 sessions.

Hypnosis does not provide miracle cures, although it is a quick and efficient method of dealing with many problems. Sometimes the number of visits required can be reduced through the use of audio hypnosis and self hypnosis. With many problems especially dieting, I recommend an audio hypnosis to supplement the consultations. Self hypnosis can be taught if required, when applicable.

Why are Hypnotic Suggestions so Effective?

The reason for hypnotic suggestions being so much more successful than suggestions made in the waking state is that the subconscious mind has no critical faculty and will accept benevolent suggestions made by the hypnotherapists and control the body accordingly. It is for example a very easy matter for the hypnotherapist to tell the subject he will find it very easy to stick to his diet, and most subjects are truly amazed at the ease with which they are subsequently able to diet, having no inclination to digress. If a person in the waking state is told that dieting is easy he will counter with the thought ‘It’s not, I’ll get hungry’ (the conscious mind using it’s critical faculty) and so the suggestion will be rejected.
